So gmail gets a new priority inbox

GoogleSo gmail has got itself a brand spanking new priority inbox. Google promises us that aside from your regular inbox, this one will hold emails that are 'priority'. They calculate this based on emails you read, emails you mark as important and emails you reply to. The theory being, the more you use it, the better it should become at sifting through your mail.

UK defence secretary digusted by MoH

Yet again we have a video game provoking a (little bit) of controversy. The UK Secretary of Defence has called on video game stores not to stock the forthcoming Medal of Honor game because it allows players to choose the side of the Taliban in the war in Afghanistan.

Opera Menu Button - set as menu bar

Opera 10.6The new version of Opera (10.60) has the menu bar as a nifty little button on the top left. Which is great if you hardly ever use the menu. Maybe you spend your time YouTubing and checking in on Facebook, spying on your ex.

Embedded videos in Joomla articles not playing

I've long had a battle with videos in Joomla articles not playing. It originally began when the editor (e.g. TinyMCE) began stripping out the code for object or embed tags. But once that had been resolved, the videos would seem to load then display an error symbol - i.e they wouldn't play. I'm using Joomla 1.5.

Can't see videos in firefox - ubuntu 9.10

I was having trouble seeing videos in Firefox. I'm on Ubuntu 9.10, videos on most sites played (e.g. YouTube) but videos in Break.com failed to play - I couldn't even see the video player.

Fedora 13 stuck on 800x600 screen resolution - Advent 9415 laptop

Changed the Operating System (OS) on the laptop again (Advent 9415 with an SIS graphics card - nevery buying anything with SIS again if they won't support linux). Its great to have a spare laptop to cycle through the various Linux distro's seeing what each is up to. Anyway, the usual problem with the SIS graphics card presented itself. Having installed Fedora 13 I was met with the ugly 800x600 screen resolution with no option to change it.

Ubuntu stuck on 800x600 SIS graphics card - Advent 9415 laptop

I got so sick of Vista I installed ubuntu on my Advent 9415 laptop. I'd have done it a lot sooner but the better half of me and the half that controls the food was 'used' to vista and had no clue what linux, unix, ubuntu or any other those nasty terms was. Eventually I could bear it no longer. Even at the risk of having to cook for myself I wiped the harddrive clean and installed Ubuntu...only to be met with a screen resolution stuck on 800x600.

Hwdvideoshare Permalink Structure

Small issue with a recent upgrade of Hwdvideoshare - the URL for the video is updated with a snazzy SEO name tagged onto the end in the following format:

http://www.yoursite.com/media/videos/viewvideo/XXX/title-of-video

In the above line, 'XXX' is the video ID and 'title-of-video' is a search engine optimised version of the title of your video. However on the view video page the perma link still appears as the old version something like this:

  • «
  •  Start
  •  Prev
  •  1
  •  2
  •  3
  •  4
  •  Next
  •  End
