Google's busy thursday

What a busy day Thursday turned out to be for Google. Not only did they launch a dictionary service and a translated web search service, Google also announced a new service that resolves DNS names. Maybe they were expecting that one to go unnoticed.

FCC supports net neutrality

In a welcome move the FCC has thrown its weight behind net neutrality. This move is important for users because it means that internet service providers (i.e. your broadband provider) cannot impose rules on what you may or may not do whilst on the internet, or alter your speeds depending on what resources your accessing. Their approach to the net must be neutral.

YouTube MoviesIf movies were to accurately portray the pace of modern life, the negotiations between YouTube and the movie studios would produce a real life drama of four hours duration. Google is still negotiating, but in a step forward it seems all parties are close to an agreement on how exactly to proceed.
